Both the JDM Mark X and Chinese market Reiz will be discontinued
In Japan only 252 sold in April
Camry with tarted up body kits will replace it, but RWD will be irreplacable.
Kinda sad, this is the only other car aside from the Crown that I liked, even though it was never offered with a manual.

These cars died with the 1JZ as far as I'm concerned.

It is still one of the few remaining RWD sedans from a non luxury brand though.

That’s a shame, as I liked them too . They were the descendent of the Cressida/Chaser/Mark II. Though they are essentially mechanically identical to the IS. And they did briefly offer a manual in a super-limited run (100 made) GRMN version in 2015. If you can find one, they’re usually in the ¥5-6 million range.

Although, really, how much separation was there between the 2nd-gen Mark X and the 14th-gen Crown?
In any case, there is a 15th-gen Crown, that is still RWD (with a choice of a 2.0T, a 2.5 hybrid, and a 3.5 V6 multi-stage hybrid) , so...

Ran Google Translate on the Article:
“ In recent years, the protagonists who have seen traffic accidents in various newspapers and magazines have seen the title of “Toyota Spicy Run” from time to time. Interestingly, this title does not describe Toyota’s signature sports car 86 but describes the Mark X car with the same 200 rear drive. . Whether or not this title is ironic, the Mark X car has indeed met many local fans’ desire for a Japanese high-powered rear-wheel drive since 2004. Although Reiz Reiz (domestic version of Mark X) was chased by the Chinese netizens as a goddess car, Reiz (Mark X) is also in a situation of bleak sales in the Chinese market, and finally announced its production line in China last September.
In the Japanese domestic market, Mark X recorded only 252 sales records in April this year. In the case of continued bleak sales, the factory has notified the dealers that Mark X is about to stop production. For the time being, Mark X can still be seen on the official website of Toyota Japan. There is no real time when it will be officially taken off and discontinued.
In addition to the discontinuation news, the future of the Mark X car is not optimistic. In view of the new Camry playing with the TNGA platform, the Camy will completely replace the Mark X car. But no matter how sporty Camry’s styling is, the fascination of Mark X’s rear-wheel drive for loyal fans is irreplaceable by the predecessor Camry.

Mark X was a fair bit bigger than the IS, though - nearly as long wheelbase as the GS and Crown, in between the IS and GS/Crown in length.
(That said, the GS itself is being replaced with the ES...)

“GS being replaced with ES” is quite frankly a depressing thought.
